I have been using this shampoo bar for about a year now, and I really like it. My hairdresser has remarked that my hair seems softer and thicker. However, I think my fine, dry, frizz-prone curly hair would benefit from something a little different. My quest was to create something that was: very gentle as a cleanser, conditioning, helped promote hair growth, strengthened hair, and maybe added a little shine. Tall order, right?
For the base oils, I decided to include Argan, known to promote hair growth, and Jojoba, known to strengthen & condition hair, as well as promote shine. Luxurious kokum and shea butter were included for similar reasons. Rounding that out were the more standard olive oil, sunflower, and coconut oils, which all help make a balanced bar.
Research on properties of various herbs indicates that rosemary, peppermint, and ginger are believed to help increase scalp circulation and thus possibly stimulate hair growth. Maybe, maybe not - but I created a lovely essential oil scent blend with those 3 along with lavender, lemon and pink grapefruit.
The end result was this beautiful bar which I put in a rose-shaped mold for fun. The hardest part will be waiting 4 weeks for this bar to cure so that I can try it!
