I have used my cinnamon and patchouli travel bars on several short trips now - and I love them! The hardness of the bar helps them last a bit longer, but without a noticeable difference to how they feel on the skin.
I decided to make a more floral option as an alternate to the cinnamon and patchouli in the original recipe. I had splurged and bought Rose essential oil and decided to pair that with French Rose Clay for a pink-and-cream travel mini.
When researching Rose essential oil for soap-making, I saw frequent mention of how it makes the soap batter “seize up” (get thick) really quickly. I can confirm that it is true! I didn’t even have time to take pictures of the thick batter in the bowl but you can see the results on the final bars. The batter was so thick it didn’t pour nicely into the molds and I had to smash it in with a spoon. This created small air pockets or gaps in the soap instead of a smooth, all-around finish.
End result: not the finest looking soap I’ve ever made, but it smells like a dream! I can’t wait to try it and I hope you will, too!
